Esoteric Designs
For businesses that want to stand out.
Specialising in brand development & UX/UI design… and a great deal more. I've spent several years helping small businesses and start-ups bring their ideas to life, from the first conversation to the finished product and beyond.
CASE STUDY: Creating branding and a design system from the ground up
VoxSmart is a communications capture and surveillance platform that enables businesses to remain compliant and mitigate operational risk. VoxSmart came to me to develop a branding and design system, and the relationship grew from there into consulting across user research and product design.
CASE STUDY: Expanding a website for a food professional
Celia Brooks describes what she does on her business card with two words: Food Expert. That period at the end is important. Spend five minutes with her and it becomes obvious that she is incredibly knowledgeable about the food world. Not only does she have nine published cookbooks, but she has her own London food tour company called Gastrotours.
CASE STUDY: Etho, a support platform for the health community
Etho is the brainchild of GP Jethro Hubbard. This project was born from the ever increasing strain on health workers in the UK. Jethro was witnessing a sharp rise in mental and physical fatigue among his colleagues that was decimating the work force and definitely not sustainable without some sort of intervention.
Celia Brooks tea towel (physical product)
When Celia Brooks published her ninth cookbook, SuperVeg, she was looking for something tangible to promote her new book while also championing her idea of the 25 healthiest vegetables on the planet. Here is the tea towel I designed and printed for her.
CASE STUDY: Koin Rewards, an app for a positive impact
Users collect Koin for every time they shop with sustainable merchants, with a painless tracking system connected to their credit/debit card or bank account. They can use their Koin for a plethora of different sustainable causes, including but not limited to: offsetting CO2 consumption, planting trees, donating to positive campaigns, making impact investments, and paying only for sustainable products.
CASE STUDY: My Digital Journey, a web app for SMEs
Most small businesses are wandering lost in a world full of constantly changing technology. My Digital Journey helps people navigate this technology terrain through meetups, talks and amassing a huge collection of free online resources for small businesses. The thinking behind it is simple: stronger small businesses make for a stronger UK.
Logo Design
A collection of logos I've built up over the years. Each one carefully considered and crafted to work beautifully across any context and format required.
Love Inc. Branding
Love Incorporated wanted to expand into every market imaginable - Love Travel, Love Money, Love Food, Love Llamas… you get the idea. That kind of ambition opens up a lot of creative potential, but without a cohesive brand guideline it can just as easily dilute the brand.
Harry Potter Spectre Specs
During my costume design phase I had the chance to work with Warner Bros., creating Harry Potter Spectra Specs from one of their upcoming films. It was a genuine bucket list moment working alongside with Warner Bros.
Audio Steam (iOS app)
Illuminati, eat your heart out. From a young age I've been drawn to secret societies and the occult. That mixture of science and magic is too compelling to ignore. This music app created that world into a genuinely fun and experimental product.
Costume design
Aside from the work itself, I just love seeing people out in the world enjoying something I designed. Nothing feels better than opening the door on Halloween to a little kid pretending to be that monster yeti I created! Something born from my imagination, now driven by theirs.
Disney Products
Working on new Disney products was like working for the CIA. I had to design from extremely pixelated, watermarked images to protect the closely guarded secrets of their upcoming films - under punishment of death if anything got leaked. They never said this, per se, but it was implied.
Robert’s Your Father’s Brother
When I moved to London from the States it was such a monumental step for me that I wanted to catalogue my first year. It was a fantastic way to flex my photography skills every day through finding interesting compositions and writing a quick recap of the day for my future self.
